1) Innanzitutto grazie, è un piacere ed un onore poterla intervistare! Direi di cominciare dal principio…ci racconti un po’ la sua storia, come e quando si è appassionata alla razza?
Mi innamorai di questa razza circa 20 anni fa. Mia madre mi comprò il mio primo Boston Terrier. Questo non era un buon rappresentante della razza, ma mi innamorai di lui comunque. Decisi così che la seconda volta sarebbe stata quella giusta.
2) Quando ha deciso di allevare? Quali sono stati i suoi primi cani da show e da riproduzione?
Dopo circa due anni di ricerca nei posti sbagliati, decisi di andare in un esposizione canina locale e proprio lì conobbi il mio mentore i signori Rondals dell’Allevamento Anchors. Da loro presi una femmina da esposizione ed allevamento. Nonostante questa avesse una grandissima attitudine per i ring, non era comunque il top. Con Glory imparai a presentare i Boston in esposizione, e si rivelò una grandissima madre. Fui fortunata inoltre a conoscere anche i signori McNeils che mi permisero di utilizzare il loro bellissimo maschio di nome “Cash”. Con questo ebbi la mia prima cucciolata di 5 maschi ed 1 femmina. Da questa cucciolata usci il mio primo campione “Ch. Little Tom Thumb” aka Tommy. Mentre sua sorella produsse il mio secondo campione di nome “Dove”.
3) Secondo lei quali sono i punti di forza ed i punti di debolezza di questa razza?
Punti di forza e debolezza derivano dagli allevatori che trovano più importante una cosa rispetto ad un'altra. Ci sono allevatori che ritengono importante la testa, altri il movimento, altri la taglia ed altri ancora la linea superiore. Personalmente io voglio tutto questo: un occhio rotondo e grande, una buona spinta nel posteriore, una corretta linea superiore ed una buona spalla. È questo che manca alla nostra razza, molti non sanno neanche cosa sia. Onestamente ho notato questo circa sei anni fa quando me l’hanno fatto notare. Molti allevatori confondono i giudici portando in ring cani di qualità inferiore. Se non iniziamo ad essere più schizzinosi su cosa presentiamo ai giudici i nostri meravigliosi Boston perderanno l’eleganza e bellezza per la quale è conosciuta. Se non staremo attenti i Boston avranno dimensioni simili a quelle degli American Staffordshire Terrier.
4) Quali consigli può dare a chi si avvicina per la prima volta ai BT?
Per chiunque entri in questa razza, dovrà trovare un mentore, ascoltarlo, imparare e non smettere mai di farlo. Non tutti i consigli sono buoni, la maggior parte delle volte sono opinioni e tutti noi abbiamo opinioni diverse. Segui ciò che senti e sii sempre fedele a te stesso perché dovrai rispondere sempre a te stesso ed a nessun altro. 
5) Ci sono molti modi per alimentare un cane…lei cosa usa?
Credo nelle nozioni di base e personalmente ritengo che le aziende produttrici di cibo per cani che esistono da secoli conoscano molto più di quanto io possa mai fare. Non sono favorevole a una dieta cruda o ad altra dieta di quel genere. Mi preoccupo di più se dovessi fare da solo il cibo per i miei cani, non avrei la giusta quantità di vitamine per ogni cane. In questo momento nutro ProPlan Salmone e Riso che lo adorano, il mantello è buono e non hanno una forte lacrimazione che segna il bianco del muso. Il mio veterinario mi consiglia un cibo per cani al 28% di proteine per i nostri Boston. Perché rovinare qualcosa che funziona?
6) Riuscirebbe a fare il punto sulla razza? Ci sono degli aspetti da migliorare ed altri a cui fare attenzione?
Secondo me per migliorare la nostra razza bisognerebbe definirla meglio in merito le dimensioni ed il colore. Il nostro standard deve essere più chiaro in modo che tutte le persone che lo leggano lo capiscano allo stesso modo.
7) Cosa si sentirebbe di consigliare a chi vorrebbe allevare questa razza?
Chiunque voglia avvicinarsi alla razza ha bisogno di istruirsi, andare a trovare un allevatore e conoscere davvero questa meravigliosa razza. Sapere cosa c'è dietro ad una cucciolata: la preparazione e i test fatti sui genitori. Allevare può essere meraviglioso ma può essere anche devastante. Allevare non significa mettere due Boston Terrier insieme e vedere cosa ottieni. Osserva le linee di entrambi e sii onesto con te stesso, annota i pregi ed i difetti del maschio e della femmina, non allevare difetti con difetti perché questo ti porterà sempre più in basso. Tutti possono essere allevatori, ma essere allevatori rispettabili è un’altra cosa. Nessuno ha mai detto che sia facile allevare Boston Terrier.. e più facile avere il cuore spezzato.
8) I suoi progetti per il futuro?
Ho sempre progetti per me, sto pensando a cosa andrà magnificamente bene insieme per poi produrlo. Per quanto tutti noi desideriamo un Boston Terrier perfetto, in realtà non ci sono Boston perfetti.. ma non significa che non possiamo provarci..

1) First of all, it’s my pleasure to interview you. Let’s start from the beginning. Tell us your story, when and how did you fall in love with the BT breed?
I fell in love with this breed almost 20 years ago. My mom bought me my first Boston and he was not a good representative of the breed but I fell in love anyway. I decided to do it right the next time.

2) When did you start breeding? Which ones were your first dogs for shows and reproduction?
After about two years of looking in all the wrong places I was fortunate to go to a local dog show and met my first Mentor The Randals of Anchors Kennels who sent me down the right path and I was able to get my first show/breeding female. She had an awesome attitude for the ring but she wasn't the best for showing. She taught me a lot about how to handle but Glory was as it turned out an awesome brood bitch. I was fortunate to also have met my second set of mentors The McNeils and they allowed me to breed to there lovely male Cash. I was very lucky my first litter produced 5 males and 1 female. My first Champion came from that first litter Ch Little Tom Thumb Tommy I also kept Tommy's sister Angel who also produced my second Champion my Dove. 3) In your opinion, what are the strength and weakness of the breed?Strength and Weakness in our breed comes down to the breeders and what they find important in our breed. There are many breeders who feel this breed is a Head Breed so they work on the Heads others think it's a movement breed so the breed for size and movement top-lines etc. Personally for me I want it all I want that beautiful square head with the correct large round Eyes a beautiful mover with a level top-line and the correct amount of angulation in the rear BUT most importantly a beautiful layback of shoulder this is where our breed is lacking, most don't even know what this is and to be honest I didn't either until about 6 years ago when it was pointed out to me .Breeders are confusing judges by putting inferior dogs in the ring and if we don't start being more picky about what we show to judges our beautiful Boston will loose all their elegance and beauty which our breed is known for. If we are not careful Bostons will look like in size like American Staffordshire Terrier.
4) What advice would you give to the person that approaches this breed for the very first time?
For anyone coming into this breed find a mentor Listen and Learn and never stop learning. Not all advice is good a lot of times it's an opinion and we all have plenty of opinions. Follow what you can live with and always be true to yourself because you have to answer to yourself no one else.
5) There are many ways to feed your dog. What kind of food do you use?
I believe in basics and personally I feel dog food companies who have been around for centuries know a lot more than I ever will. Im not apposed to a raw diet or any other diet for that matter . Im more concerned with if I tried to make it myself for my dogs I wouldn't get the correct amount of Vitamins for each dog. At this time I feed ProPlan Salmon and Rice Shredded they love it there coats are good and I have no tear stains in there white plus my vet prefers a dog food under 28% Protein for our Boston's. Why mess up want works?
6) Could you give us a general look on the breed? Are there any aspects to improve and others to pay attention at?
For me to improve our breed would be in the Definition of our breed concerning Size, Pattern/Color ,Our standard needs to be more clear so everyone reading it understands it the same way.
7) What would you say to someone that would like to start breeding Boston Terriers?
Anyone wanting to get into our breed need to Educate yourself go visit a breeder and really learn about our wonderful breed. Be apart of a litter learn about the what goes into preparing for a litter Health testing parents learn every aspect. Breeding can be wonderful but can also be devastating. Learn to put a wall up around your Heart so it doesn't get broken. A lot goes into breeding it's not about throwing two BT's together and see what you get. Look at the lines of both be honest with yourself write down pluses and minuses of both male and female Never breed faults to faults you always want to breed up never down. Personally I won't breed a nasty temperament ever be picky. Everyone can be a breeder to be a respectable breeder is another thing altogether . No one ever said breeding a Boston is easy. Its easier to have your Heart Broken.
8) Any projects for the future?
Projects Always personally for me it's thinking what will work beautifully together and then producing it. As much as we all want that perfect Boston in reality there are NO Perfect Bostons but it doesn't mean we can't try..
