...in questi anni di BostonOssessione, ho avuto l'onore ed il piacere di conoscere, seppur virtualmente, molti stimati e famosi allevatori da tutto il mondo. Ho domandato ad alcuni di loro, di avere la possibilità di poterli intervistare, parlandoci appunto della razza e, molti di loro hanno accettato con entusiasmo di collaborare a questo mio progetto, così ogni mese pubblicherò la rubrica: "L'allevatore del mese"!

1) Innanzitutto grazie, è un piacere ed un onore poterla intervistare! Direi di cominciare dal principio…ci racconti un po’ la sua storia, come e quando si è appassionato alla razza?
Iniziai circa 45 anni fa, gareggiavo alle esposizioni canine di bellezza con cani di razza Collie, in quell'occasione ebbi il piacere di incontrare il compianto George Miramon, allevatore di Boston terrier e titolare dell'affisso "Nomarim". George allevava Bts sin dai primi anni '50, ebbe molto successo con i suoi cani sia come espositore sia come allevatore. Nel corso degli anni ho sempre ammirato i suoi cani. Quando iniziai ad andare avanti con gli anni, decisi di voler avere cani di taglia più piccola ma con un gran temperamento e...quale migliore razza se non il meraviglioso Boston terrier!

Presi il mio primo Boston nel 2002 proprio da George Miramon.
Il mio primo Boston è stata: Ch. Nomarim's Dixieland Delight (detta Dixie), ha prodotto 5 Campioni Americani, un multi campione in Germania chiamato: Kean's Set Em Up Joe, un multi campione in Francia, il suo nome è: Kean's Georgy Porgy, ed ha anche prodotto un multi campione in Giappone il suo nome è: Kean's First Edition.
Sono stata molto fortunata ad avere una fattrice che è stata in grado di completare il suo campionato e che abbia prodotto 8 Campioni. Solo uno dei suoi cuccioli non è riuscito a completare il campionato. Anche la sua progenie ha prodotto altri bei cani per me....che grande eredità che mi ha lasciato!

Se siete interessati ad acquistare un Boston, prima dovreste assicurarvi che essi siano davvero il tipo di cane che vorreste avere, loro non sono in grado di tollerare il caldo ed il freddo estremo. E 'importante informarsi bene sulla razza e trovare un allevatore serio dove acquistare il vostro Boston.
4) Ci sono molti modi per alimentare un cane…lei cosa usa?
Io per i miei cani utilizzo la marca Eukanuba.

5) Riuscirebbe a fare il punto sulla razza? Ci sono degli aspetti da migliorare ed altri a cui fare attenzione?
Sì, l'aspetto generale è quello di un cane vivace dal pelo corto e liscio, compatto, e ben equilibrato. Le orecchie sono piccole e devono conformarsi alla forma della testa. Gli occhi sono marrone scuro e non devono mostrare troppo bianco.
Sento che dovremmo allevare Boston sani e con una buona linea dorsale, con un corpo non troppo lungo. Vorrei anche vedere un occhio più tondeggiante e con con buona espressione.
6) Cosa si sentirebbe di consigliare a chi vorrebbe allevare questa razza?
Se si vuole allevare i Boston, bisognerebbe assicurarsi che sia per il miglioramento della razza e non per cercare di fare soldi. Consiglio di entrare in contatto con un allevatore di buona reputazione e che diventi il vostro mentore. Fare, ai vostri cani, i vari test di salute e di prendervi cura di loro nel miglior modo possibile!
7) I suoi progetti per il futuro?
Sì, ho due bei cuccioli ed ho intenzione di esporli presto.

1) First of all, it’s my pleasure to interview you. Let’s start from the beginning. Tell us your story, when and how did you fall in love with the BT breed?
I started showing Collies 45 years ago and had the pleasure of meeting the late George Miramon of Nomarim's Boston Terriers. He started breeding Boston's in the early 1950's and was very successful In showing and breeding Boston's. I had always admired his Boston's over the years. As I got older I wanted to get into a smaller breed that had great temperament's. What better breed than the wonderful Boston Terrier.
2) When did you start breeding? Which ones were your first dogs for shows and breeding?
I got my first Boston in 2002 from George Miramon. My first Boston was Ch. Nomarim's Dixieland Delight AKA Dixie, she produced 5 American Champion's, and one Multi champion in Germany. His Name is: Kean's Set Em Up Joe, she produced one Multi champion in France, his name is :Kean's Georgy Porgy ,she also produced one Multi Champion in Japan his name is: Kean's First Edition I am very fortunate to have a female that was able to complete her Championship and to produce 8 Champions. Only one of her puppies did not complete her championship. Her offspring has also produced well for me. What a legacy she has left.
3) What advice would you give to the person that approaches this breed for the very first time?
If they are interested in buying a Boston, it would be to make sure that they are the type of dog that they would like to have, and they are not able to tolerate extreme heat or cold weather. It is important that they study the Breed and find a reputable breeder to purchase a Boston from.
4) There are many ways to feed your dog. What kind of food do you use?
I use Eukanuba dog food.
5) Could you give us a general look on the breed? Are there any aspects to improve and others to pay attention at?
Yes the general look is a lively smooth coated, compact, and well balanced dog. The ears are small and should conform to the shape of the head. The eyes are dark brown and should not show too much white.
I feel we should breed sound Boston's with a good topline and not too long in body. I would also like to see a pretty round eye with good expression.
6) What would you say to someone that would like to start breeding Boston Terriers?
If you want to breed Boston's, make sure it's for the betterment of the breed, and to not to try to make money . Get in touch with a reputable breeder and mentor. Do health testing and take the best care of your Boston's!!
7) Any projects for the future?
Yes I have two nice puppies I plan on showing soon.
